As New Yorkers, we’re among the most ambitious, creative, and successful people on the planet. We go the extra mile for our goals, our families, and our friends yet rarely take time for ourselves. We work so hard that we sometimes forget how to be happy in the here and now.

I’m a yoga and meditation teacher who’s lived in NYC for 25 years. These practices have helped me find an inner joy and peace in spite of the demands of the city. I’m here to help you do the same.

“The most important thing is to express your true nature in the simplest, most adequate way and to appreciate it in the smallest existence.”

About Me

Hope Tarullo - 1200px.jpg

For a long time I didn’t think it was okay to be happy. That I was allowed to experience joy, to take pleasure in my body, to choose what felt good and easeful over working hard to change myself.

Not any more.

I started practicing yoga because it made me happy. Happy in the body, heart, and mind. I still practice yoga because it makes me happy.

That’s why I teach too.

It’s my goal to help you find the same happiness I’ve found in yoga. Our primary tool for finding joy is the cultivation of ease and pleasure in the body. Sometimes that means getting outside of our comfort zone. Sometimes that means softening and letting go. Usually it’s a combination of both.

As we cultivate ease in the body, pain and dis-ease disappear of their own accord. By discovering joy in the body, the heart and mind naturally follow.

I’ve had the good fortune to practice with many excellent teachers, including Genny Kapuler, Abbie Galvin, and Geoffrey Shugen Arnold Roshi. I currently study with Carla Stangenberg and the other fabulous teachers at Jaya Yoga Center.
